Nicole Nix – Symphony Agency

Describe your relevant work history, awards, and accomplishments in 300 words or less.

With a bachelor’s degree in air traffic management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, where I also minored in broadcast meteorology, human factors, and occupational safety, it only makes sense that I would end up working at a marketing agency… Right?

I first officially jumped into the Tampa Bay tech scene in 2015 while in the IT Operations department at Kobie Marketing, working to manage our production team. At the time, we serviced and managed rewards programs for a large variety of clients such as Best Buy, AMC, TJ Maxx/Home Goods, Gap, and State Farm. Since joining the Symphony Agency as an account manager in 2018, I’ve moved my primary focus from our current client base onto expanding our company client portfolio which has been a fun and challenging adventure!

What do you love about the Tampa Bay area?

I’ve been in Florida nearly my whole life, but have never lived somewhere that has such a strong focus on community and supporting local businesses. There is literally always something going on whether it’s sticking around St. Petersburg to go to one of the many outdoor Indie markets, the fun weekday Jazz nights at Intermezzo, or venturing into Tampa to grab dinner at Armature Works. If you live in the Tampa Bay area and you’re bored, you’re doing it wrong!

What are some of your favorite things to do around town when you aren’t working?

I love to keep myself busy by attending local events, If I’m not doing that, you can find me listening to live music, eating kimchi fried rice at Hawkers, followed by a beer at Green Bench.

How do you give your time back to the community?

I’ve done a lot of work with an organization called Dreams Soar. Its core focus is encouraging and educating young girls about job opportunities in the STEM and aviation industry by empowering them with knowledge and support and giving them access to role models of a wide variety of backgrounds and nationalities.

I’ve also worked with the St. Petersburg Free Clinic which offers a variety of services and programs to help locals in need with food, shelter, and healthcare.

Tell us about the tech project that you are most proud of.

Throughout my career, I’ve experienced a number of definingly proud moments. But I think I’m the proudest when I’m able to be around others and share ideas. Just recently, I had the opportunity to share some key learnings regarding client retention processes while swapping sales process knowledge which was so productive.

I’m honored to be a part of the community here in the Tampa Bay area because we are all rooting for each other’s success!
